Dear Parents and Campers,
Thank you for your interest in the 2017 Martinsville Arts Council / Merry MAC / Fall Foliage Festival Drama Camp. This year, our show will be called “The Scene of the Crime”. The campers will be performing a series of one-act mysteries. As always, as they practice and get ready for the shows, they will be learning important theatre skills and concepts. Participation is open to children and youth who will be entering grades 3 through 12 this fall. There is a 30-camper maximum.
Camp will run weekdays from June 12-23 from 9:00 am to 2:00 p.m. Campers should bring a sack lunch each day. (Refrigeration is available.) There will be performances on June 23 at 7:30 p.m. and June 24 at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm. All activities and performances will be held at The Depot Theatre, 210 N. Marion, Martinsville.
The cost per camper is $135 ($110 for each additional camper from the same family.) This price includes a t-shirt, a photo CD, and one complimentary ticket per camper (two-ticket limit per family). Additional tickets for the end-of-camp show are $7. Refunds of registration fees will follow the schedule on the registration form.
A limited number of need-based partial scholarships are available. A $50 refundable deposit is required when applying for a scholarship.
Registration will be by mail, according to the timeline below. Spots will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis, determined by postmark. Payment (or deposit, in the case of scholarship applicants) is due in full at the time of registration. Completed forms and fees should be sent to Drama Camp, Martinsville Arts Council, P.O. Box 1561, Martinsville, IN 46151. Forms may be downloaded from the Merry MAC Players Facebook page or merrymacplayers.org. They will also be available at the Barbara B. Jordan (Martinsville) YMCA, 2039 E. Morgan and on the information table in the children’s section of the Morgan County Public Library (Martinsville Branch), 110 S. Jefferson.
Because the camp culminates in a theatrical production, daily attendance is very important. All campers are expected to participate in all three performances. Campers and their families should also be aware that a successful show will require practice at home in addition to the work done during camp hours. Campers’ families may also be asked to provide some of their own costume and prop pieces.
